Kenna Fair PhotoKenna Fair graduated from Emily Carr College of Art and Design as a painter. Born and raised on the west coast of B.C., she has been living and working on Galiano Island since 1994. In the past few years her main focus has been depicting birds of all shapes and sizes, including everything from the smallest humming bird to the giant great blue heron. Lately, however, she has broadened her interests and is representing other creatures: the life within the tide pools and coast line of the island. Her goal is to capture the dynamic energy and personality of each creature she paints; she does this by carving a relief of the subject into a wood panel and then painting the subject in acrylic. The carving gives the paintings depth and movement and brings out the attitude and character of each of her subjects. Hers is a unique style which has captured the attention of art enthusiasts and galleries alike.

Kenna has previously been in shows on Galiano Island at the Galiano Art Gallery, and at the Insight Gallery. She has also been the curator of Digital Madness (digital photography) and “in a small way” (miniature art works). Presently she has a number of paintings at the Winchester Gallery in Oak Bay. In spring 2008 she opened “Islands Edge gallery of fine art” with 4 other artist on Galiano Island.

She always enjoys working on commissions for clients, which gives her the opportunity to work with individual concepts to create an original work of art.
